Job Overview
Location: Guelph, Ontario
Structure: Large two storey stone house
Problem: Repeated attic noises in the morning and evening
Service: Humane squirrel removal and roofline exclusion
Visits: Three
Summary
Pest Control Guelph was contacted regarding persistent attic noises consistent with squirrel activity. Our team completed a multi-visit squirrel removal service that identified roofline entry points, installed one-way doors to allow squirrels to exit safely, and completed permanent exclusion. Activity was resolved following removal and final confirmation
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported hearing scratching and movement sounds in the attic during early mornings and evenings. The timing and pattern suggested active squirrels using the attic space for shelter.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial roof inspection, our technician identified two active entry points:
* An opening at a roof vent where the surrounding material had been displaced
* A gap at a soffit-to-roof intersection along the roofline
Photo documentation shows disturbed roofing materials near the vent opening and visible gaps at the soffit intersection. Additional inspection confirmed these points provided direct access into the attic.

Cause Analysis
Squirrels commonly target roof vents and soffit intersections because these areas offer shelter and warmth and are often elevated and less visible from the ground. Seasonal activity increases during cooler periods when squirrels seek nesting sites. Multiple roof elevations on the structure increased the number of potential access points.
Treatment / Removal
On the first visit, our team installed two one-way doors:
* One over the affected roof vent
* One at the soffit-to-roof intersection
These devices allowed squirrels to exit the attic safely without re-entry. All work was performed using humane, non-lethal wildlife control methods.
Exclusion & Repairs
Galvanized steel mesh was installed to seal an additional soffit intersection that showed signs of vulnerability. A roof vent cover was also installed to reinforce the vent opening after activity subsided.
On the final visit, after confirming no further squirrel activity, the remaining one-way doors were removed and the openings were permanently secured.

Outcome & Confirmation
Following the third visit, the homeowner reported no further sounds or activity in the attic. Final inspection confirmed that:
* All one-way doors were removed
* Roof vent and soffit areas were securely excluded
* No new entry points or signs of squirrel activity were present
The attic was successfully cleared, and the structure was protected against re-entry.

Technician Notes
Andrew completed all roof-level inspections, device installations, and final exclusion work over the three visits. Access limitations included steep roof slopes and multiple elevations, which were managed using appropriate safety equipment and procedures.
