Problems Mice Can Cause in a Home

A mouse looks like an innocent little thing with its large eyes and frail body, and if we didn’t know any better, we would all think that giving refuge and food to this little creature would never prove to be harmful. The truth however, is quite the opposite. While mice may seem tiny and cute, they are certainly not innocent! Top on their list of notorieties are their ability to cause widespread damage within a home or commercial property, and their potential to transmit some of the world’s most dangerous diseases.

As far as damage to property is concerned, there is no limit to the destruction even a single mouse can bring upon your home or business. These tiny rodents gnaw and chew just about everything that comes their way, whether they intend to eat it or not, and the damage these seemingly simple acts can lead to is unimaginable.

Chewed wires can cause electrical short circuits and fires, important papers and even cash can be nibbled to fragments, and in a place of business, computers and its peripherals can be attacked by these tiny creatures too. And this is only the beginning of the list of damages associated with mice!

On the health front, mice are known as carriers of some of the most serious diseases in the world. Their saliva, feces and urine all carry hazardous pathogens, and even their shiny coats of fur carry organisms that can pass on diseases.

Some of the most dangerous diseases associated with the presence of mice include Bubonic Plague, Leptospirosis, Tularemia, Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome, Lymphocytic Chorio-Meningitis (LCM), Rat Bite Fever, Salmonella and Omsk Hemorrhagic Fever.

Therefore, it isn’t just risky, but highly dangerous to tolerate the presence of mice within your home or commercial property.
